Some info about what to expect from your photography experience
Absolutely! Even before we had this Covid-19 pandemic, the safety of your family has always been important to me. With Covid-19, I have become even more careful making sure I follow all UK guidance and in some cases go that little bit further to make sure both your family and myself are safe.
Whether in the studio or outdoors, I will make sure I wear a mask or visor to protect us both. When possible and providing it is safe to do so, I will try not to wear a mask when I need to give you all instructions but would be at least 2 meters away.
Although I have a wonderful purpose built viewing room, unfortunately at the moment I am not running viewing and ordering appointments in person but instead virtually using Zoom. I’ve been doing this through lockdown and it still works now.
Yes, yes and…. did I say yes??? After all my shoots I ask clients to describe their photography experience in three words. The most common ones are
- Fun
- Friendly
- Professional
This will not change as it’s just who I am. Of course, I’ll be careful and professional but that won't stop me being fun, friendly, and sometimes a little silly.
Obviously, during the actual photo shoot, you will not be required to wear a mask (unless you want to as a sign of the times). However, if it’s a studio shoot, can you please wear a mask when entering and leaving the studio. As my studio is within my property, this is for both your safety and the safety of myself and my family.
My purpose built studio is based on my property in the northwest of Fairford - click here to find me on google maps. Once booked I will send you more directions on how to find us.
A very common question and it really depends on you. The rule of thumb for families is that if you have any child under 2 years old, then I advise a studio shoot. Otherwise it really is up to you as there are pros and cons to each.
An outdoor photography experience will take advantage of the beautiful Cotswolds that I feel privileged to live close to. I have a few locations that I use in and around Fairford that give you and the family awesome views while also giving the kids and/or dog space to run and play (which has the advantage of wearing them out too for a good night's sleep).
A studio photography experience means we don’t need to be worried about what the weather does that day as no matter what, we’ll be in a nice and comfortable studio. It also means that you and you family can change your clothes which is not only fun, but means it adds a lot of variety to the images. We can even include props so that the photos are even more personal to you. This is the recommended option for kids under 2.
Whichever you choose it will be fun!! Some clients worry that they won’t have as much fun in the studio but trust me, you will! It’s not about the location of the shoot but the sprinkling of fun and silliness I bring to the day.
Yes, absolutely. If you have a particular place in mind then we will need to discuss the location to make sure it will work for the type of photos you want done. And if it’s too far from Fairford, there may be a small travel charge added to the photography experience.
Please don’t worry as I have been working with families for over 10 years and had children with lots of different personality types. I always send out a form to fill out for you to provide information like this but I’m often told a child is shy but then I seem to get them comfortable and messing around with me in no time. I seem to have a gift doing this. I’m good at thinking on my feet and will adapt to what you and your family need to give you all the best experience while capturing images you will treasure forever!
Please don’t worry as I have been working with families for over 10 years and had children with lots of different personality types. I always send out a form to fill out for you to provide information like this as well as more about them such as hobbies and information I use to connect with them quickly. I will be able to use and direct their energy into fun images but also work them towards the more relaxed and settled photos. I’m good at thinking on my feet and will adapt to what you and your family need to give you all the best experience while capturing images you will treasure forever!
Yes - I believe that choosing a photographer is a very personal thing and you need to know that we are the right fit for each other. So if you want to have a chat or arrange a video call then please use my contact form and I’ll be in touch.
The photography experience booking fee is £150 and covers my time at the shoot as well as all the editing time it takes to get your images looking their best. After the shoot, you will be invited to book your Viewing and Ordering Appointment (also included in the price of the booking fee) when we will go through your images identifying yourself favourites and then what to do with them. The cost will depend on what you want - some clients want big statement pieces for the walls, others prefer our art boxes which contain smaller mount boarded images or some prefer the collections which also contain digital images. However there is no minimum spend and most importantly absolutely no hard selling involved!
Absolutely not! Some of my clients will come to me knowing exactly what it is they want but not very often. Most will never had a photoshoot so don’t know what to expect from the day let alone what they want to buy afterwards. That’s why an important part of the photography experience that I offer includes the Viewing and Ordering appointment which is not only an opportunity to see your images but also to work out what you want to do with them. I’ll guide you through the products and ask you questions about what you like. Based on these answers I’ll be able to recommend what will suit you and your family best.
You can pay the full amount by credit card or bank transfer at the viewing.
Alternatively, we offer a number of ways to spread the payments over a few months. We offer 0% interest-free credit which will need a credit check and if successful you just pay an initial payment and then pay a monthly amount to the loan company, just the same as you do when making a sofa or bed purchase. It’s a great way to spread the cost across 12 months! If you do not wish to apply for credit, you can pay a 25% initial payment at the ordering appointment and set up a Direct Debit for the outstanding amount.
Absolutely anything you like - again there is no minimum spend!
I understand that illness can happen at short notice and as a father I know how easily the little ones pick up bugs! At the end of the day I want you all feeling your best at your photography experience so if you don’t feel well please let me know and we can rearrange. Please just give me as much notice as possible as sometimes I can fill slots last minute from a waiting list.
Being a small family business and the only photographer involved my time is limited and I can only book a finite number into my day. Therefore any unused slots are wasted.
I’m very fortunate to have wonderful clients who are considerate but I have had a few no shows over the years so that’s the purpose of this booking fee. It’s fully refundable at the Viewing and Ordering Appointment or can just be applied as studio credit to your invoice if you prefer.
If you are unable to make the agreed appointment then please let me know and as long as I’ve been given 48 hours notice, I can reschedule and you will not forfeit this booking fee.
